Retail consultancy and training for the museum and heritage sectors

Retail consultant, Peter Holloway, trained in one of the UK’s best respected retail companies, the John Lewis Partnership, where he held management positions in several stores and worked in a variety of product fields. He was a buyer and later, Assistant to the General Manager in an independent department store before joining National Trust Enterprises where he was responsible for the management and profitability of all the Trust’s shops in Wales.

Peter establishing the Retail Thinking consultancy in 2002 and since then has had extensive experience of working with a broad range of clients in the heritage and cultural sectors and advising on many retail issues. Retail Thinking’s clients have included Westminster Abbey, Leeds Castle, Edinburgh City Museums & Galleries, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Sussex Past, the Canal & River Trust and Norwich Cathedral. 

He has delivered presentations on heritage and museum retailing at many conferences and seminars, including a Heritage Retail Conference at the National Gallery; Association for Cultural Enterprises study days at Waddesdon Manor, the British Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral and National Galleries of Scotland; Museums Association trading seminar; Yorkshire Regional Museums Conference; plus overseas museum seminars, including Tallinn, Cairo and Beirut.
